About Kevin Featherstone
(Him / His/ He)

Travel Junkie | Speaker | Facilitator | Diversity and Inclusion Consultant | Communications, Marketing and Events Specialist | Project Manager | Champion for Social Justice

Kevin is a little OCD. Not the card carrying medically certified variety. But more the anecdotal high on hygiene and constant hand washing kind. Even before Covid-19 made that practice popular with the masses. He likes things in a certain order- so much so that his clothes are arranged in colour order and his books arranged alphabetically. These awesome quirks started at an early age- along with his awareness of being a wee bit different to the other boys in his family and social circle.

Thinking he was the only gay in the village until the age of 16, he only found his tribe when he moved to London in the early nineties after completing his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Linguistics, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism at Rhodes University.

Kevin has done a lot of crazy and interesting jobs in his lifetime. His talent, wit, charm and unique set of skills have seen him shine as a security guard, gardener, construction worker, bartender, waiter, office clerk, data capturer, retail salesperson and radio presenter, until moving to the more professional realms working as an English teacher, writer, communications specialist, event manager, marketing and advertising executive, business owner, diversity practitioner and warrior for social justice.

With more than 30 years of multifaceted experience in both the corporate and public sectors, he now consults to a variety of organisations in the Transformation, Diversity, Inclusion and organisational culture space. He is the founding member of Uthingo Africa – an NPO dedicated to bringing about meaningful social change through a variety of transformation programmes and initiatives- allowing him to pursue his passion as a speaker, facilitator and humanitarian.

Apart from making sure things are lined up in a neat and orderly fashion, Kevin loves travelling. His passion for living out a neatly ordered suitcase have seen him visiting over 55 countries across the globe, living and working in London, Buenos Aires, Mexico and Israel for extended periods. And while eternally grateful for these opportunities, he feels he has only just begun- and has an extensive must see list which includes Antarctica as the only continent still to walk on.

An introverted extrovert, Kevin has an unhealthy co-dependent relationship with his dog Lola, and is passionate about making a difference in society. His work in the LGBTI+ space continues to inspire, motivate and make sure he has a reason to get out of bed each day.

I am passionate about shifting mindsets, driving change and collaborating on ways to develop more equitable workplaces
